Winner - HRi (HR Independents) Emerging Talent Award

Oh my goodness, I did it! I'm delighted to have won the HRi Emerging Talent Award 2024.


To be honest, I've had my eye on this award since starting out my HR indie journey back in April 2022. The idea of being an 'emerging talent' is comforting when everything seems new and unfamiliar. There are lots of us who start our own businesses, and we all have our challenges along the way. When I left steady employment, I had the fear about how I'd manage to support clients from multiple industries with every possible question or problem, and all without an internal team to back me up.


Of course, I do have a team really because the HR indie community is generous and supportive. I've also learned over time that I really do know my stuff about HR and employment law, and 20 years' experience of it goes a long way! I've developed a wonderful network of direct and associate clients. In short, being an HR indie turns out to have been very rewarding and brilliant fun.
